Apr 20, 07:30 PMAudio
On tonite’s program, a live interview with The Syn founding member Steve Nardelli. Steve formed The Syn in 1965 with Chris Squire, who went on to form Yes. In this century Steve and Chris Squire reformed The Syn and recorded a new CD (and a live one after that) and toured in 2006. The band have been working on a new album, Big Sky, released in 2009, and played in NYC at Joe’s Pub on April 30th.
The Syn continues forward with a core lineup of Steve Nardelli (founding member, songwriter, lead vocalist and guitarist), Francis Dunnery (of It Bites and Robert Plant fame – guitars, bass and vocals) and Tom Brislin (Spiraling – also keyboardist on Yes’ Symphonic tour – keyboards and vocals). The lineup is augmented by Paul Ramsey (Echolyn) providing drums and other percussion, Brett Kull (also of Echolyn) on guitar, Theo Travis on sax, and Dorie Jackson doing backing vocals. Together this new line-up is creating
some of the most genuinely inspiring modern day progrock.
Steve is also working on pioneering Internet video delivery through his Umbrello TV – one part of his company Umbrello Music Entertainment. For info on the band: http://www.synmusic.net/
