In order to listen to the stream:- Your computer must have a soundcard installed
- You must be connecting to the Internet at a speed of at least 28.8 kbps.
- You must have a Real Audio compatible player installed. You can download a free player from Real Audio. Note: Look for the link for the FREE player on the upper right of the RealOne Player page
Notes:
- If you are using version 4.0 or greater of either Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer, the Real Audio Player should already be installed.
- Once your player is installed, it should be “launched” automatically when clicking on the link above to listen live. If this does not happen, try starting the player manually, enter the address- http://wnyu.nyu.edu/wnyu.ram
orhttp://livevideo.nyu.edu:8080/ramgen/broadcast/wnyu.rm, then press the play button.
- Due to network traffic, it may take several attempts to start the audio stream. Simply re-press the Play button if you receive a connection error message. You may need to do this several times.
- On some machines, the initial attempt to connect to our site may produce a message prompt asking to “run auto configure”. By clicking OK, your player may then be able to start the audio stream after trying several different connection protocols. The auto-configure procedure will not disable your player even if you are still unable to connect to our live stream.
- Due to NYU-NET network congestion, you may receive a “connecting…” or a “loading…” message, followed by a time-out. In this case, we suggest trying to reconnect approximately 15-30 minutes later when the traffic congestion may have subsided.
- If you are using Real Audio’s RealOne player, you may encounter frequent rebuffering. To alleviate this problem, start the RealOne player and follow the instructions below:
- click on the “>>” button
- move your mouse down to “Tools” selection
- click on the “Preferences…” sub-selection
- if the button to the left of “Connection” is a “”, click on the “” button in order to expand the tree under “Connection”
- click on “Network Transports” under the “Connection” tree root
- click on the check box next to “Use specific UDP ports: 7070-7071” in order to turn it on, if it is not checked already
- click on the “OK” button to apply the update
