It's A Queer Country
hosted by Levi Langley
6:00 AM - 8:00 AM
Left out of mainstream alt-country movements that emerged in the South in the ‘90s and early 2000s, queer musicians primarily fled to Texas — largely to towns such as Austin and Denton — to pioneer their own underground scenes of folk-country-americana goodness. From the gay rodeo circuit to Austin’s DIY co-op spaces, make-shift spaces for queer alt-country musicians were derived not for aesthetics but out of necessity. Take your punk, anti-establishment ethos, throw a cowboy hat on it, and listen to the sweet guitar sounds of this (extremely) queer country!
