Rawr xD is a nostalgic dive into the MySpace era, exploring music that reflects the angsty teenage culture of scene kids and Y2K, and music that couldn’t have existed without the influence of early 2000s internet trends. Listeners can expect dramatic lyrics, unnecessarily d1gitiz3d sounds, themes of heartbreak, and generally to feel as though they were transported to a suburban high school in 2007 as the scene kid virus spreads throughout the country. Focusing primarily on metalcore/scene-adjacent music between the years 1998 and 2012, occasionally venturing outward to other styles within that time period, I aim to exemplify how the internet explosion influenced music during that era by this time machine-style radio show honing in on the br0ken he4rt3d, lost, yet juvenile, boisterous, and charming scene community fostered by 2000s teens escaping the real world by logging on to the internet.
